Azalea 'White Ice'

How to grow Azalea 'White Ice' in NZ

Azalea 'White Ice' grows best in a sheltered position with partial shade and soil rich in organic matter. Choose a location with free draining slightly acidic soil as azaleas thrive in these conditions. In New Zealand gardens it performs well in woodland style plantings or protected garden beds. Keep the soil evenly moist while the plant establishes and add mulch around the base to help retain moisture and support healthy root development.

Azalea 'White Ice' care tips

Azalea 'White Ice' is easy to maintain when planted in suitable conditions. Water during dry periods as azaleas prefer consistent moisture around the roots. Apply a fertiliser designed for acid loving plants in spring to promote strong growth and abundant flowering. Remove spent blooms once flowering finishes to keep the shrub tidy. A light trim after flowering can help maintain a compact rounded shape and encourage fresh growth.

Azalea 'White Ice' size, spacing, and growth rate

Azalea 'White Ice' typically grows to about one to one point five metres tall and wide, forming a dense rounded shrub. It has a moderate growth rate and gradually develops into a full plant over time. For best results allow about one metre of space between plants so each shrub can develop properly. When grown in good soil and suitable conditions it becomes a lush evergreen feature that produces an impressive spring display.
