Azalea Tamihana is grown for its lovely form and profuse flowering. This hardy, evergreen shrub produces masses of large and showy, pure white flowers from late winter through spring. It typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide, growing best when planted in a semi-shade or full sun position on a well-drained, sheltered site. When grown in full sun it tends to be more compact. Plants are tolerant of frost and cold environments but do require good soil moisture levels during dry periods. When fertilising, avoid using lime as this will stunt or even kill plants. Azalea Tamihana is a great choice for container growing, planting around the base of trees and larger shrubs, including in a mixed planting, using in cottage or “white” garden, or using anywhere a stunning plant is required.
