Silver Anniversary Azalea
“Silver Anniversary” is a variety Azalea grown for its lovely form and profuse flowering. This hardy, evergreen shrub produces masses of fragrant, semi-double, light pink flowers which are gently shaded white towards the tips of the petals. These are produced from winter through spring and are held abreast of the glossy, dark green foliage. It typically grows to 75 cm tall and the same wide, growing best when planted in a semi-shade or full sun position on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates but does require good soil moisture levels during dry periods and should be protected from heavy frost while establishing. When fertilising avoid using lime as this will stunt or even kill plants. “Silver Anniversary” is a great choice for growing in a container, adding to a mixed planting, using in borders, planting around the base of larger trees, using in cottage gardens, or planting anywhere a stunning plant is required. Cluster planting is very trendy and affords a colourful display.
