Azalea Red Ruffles is an exquisite variety of Azalea due to its lovely form and profuse flowering. This hardy, evergreen shrub produces masses of showy, frilly, semi-double, deep red flowers through spring. It typically grows to 70 cm tall and the same wide, growing best when planted in a semi-shade or full sun position on a well-drained, sheltered site. When grown in full sun it tends to be more compact. Plants are tolerant of frost and cold environments but do require good soil moisture levels during dry periods. When fertilising, avoid using lime as this will stunt or even kill plants. Azalea Red Ruffles makes a fantastic addition to a mixed or border planting, and is great for providing a splash of colour to a garden. It suits planting around outdoor living areas, being maintained in a container, including in cottage gardens, and for mass planting on a bank or the like. This is a rewarding plant that is low maintenance and easy to grow.
