“Pax” is a variety of Azalea grown for its lovely form and profuse flowering. This hardy, evergreen shrub produces masses of showy, fragrant, double, frilly, pure white flowers through winter and spring. These are held abreast of the dark green foliage. It typically grows to 80 cm tall and the same wide, growing best when planted in a semi-shade or full sun position on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates but does require good soil moisture levels during dry periods and should be protected from heavy frost while establishing. When fertilising avoid using lime as this will stunt or even kill plants. “Pax” is a great choice for growing in a container, adding to a mixed planting, using in borders, planting around the base of larger trees, using in “white” and cottage gardens, or planting anywhere a stunning plant is required. Cluster planting is very trendy and gives a colourful display.
