Azalea mollis Red is grown for its lovely form and profuse flowering. This hardy, deciduous shrub produces masses of showy, red flowers with orange undertones through spring. Plants are tolerant of frost and cold environments but do require good soil moisture levels during dry periods. When fertilising, avoid using lime as this will stunt or even kill plants. Azalea mollis Red makes a fantastic addition to a mixed or border planting, and is great for providing a splash of colour to a garden. It suits planting around outdoor living areas, being maintained in a container, including in cottage gardens, and for mass planting on a bank or the like. This is a rewarding plant that is low maintenance and easy to grow.
