“Melford Orange” is an Azalea grown for its lovely form and profuse flowering. This hardy, deciduous shrub produces masses of brilliant orange flowers from winter until late spring. It typically grows to 1.2 m tall and the same wide, growing best when planted in a semi-shade or full sun position on a well-drained, sheltered site. When grown in full sun it tends to be more compact with better flowering. Plants are tolerant of frost and cold environments but do require good soil moisture levels during dry periods. When fertilising, avoid using lime as this will stunt or even kill plants. “Melford Orange” is a great choice for container growing, planting under trees and shrubs, including in cottage gardens, or planting anywhere a stunning plant is required.
