“Gumpo Pink” is a variety of Azalea grown for its lovely form and profuse flowering. This hardy, evergreen shrub produces masses of scented, pink flowers from winter until late spring. These are held against the glossy, dark green foliage which serves as a lovely backdrop to the flowers. It typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide, growing best when planted in a semi-shade or full sun position on a well-drained, sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates but does require good soil moisture levels during dry periods and should be protected from heavy frost while establishing. When fertilising avoid using lime as this will stunt or even kill plants. “Gumpo Pink” is a great choice for adding to a mixed planting, using in borders, planting around the base of larger trees, or using anywhere a stunning plant is required. Cluster planting is trendy and gives a very colourful display.
