“Asawa” is a smaller Azalea grown for its lovely form and profuse flowering. This hardy, evergreen shrub produces masses of single, mauve flowers from winter until late spring. It typically grows to 40 cm tall and 30 cm wide, growing best when planted in a semi-shade or full sun position on a well-drained, sheltered site. When grown in full sun it tends to be more compact. Plants are tolerant of frost and cold environments but do require good soil moisture levels during dry periods. When fertilising avoid using lime as this will stunt plants. “Asawa” is a great choice for container growing, planting under trees and shrubs, or planting anywhere a stunning plant is required.
