Azalea Amoena is a lovely Japanese Azalea that becomes smothered with small, bright pink flowers from late winter until early summer. Fresh green foliage creates a lovely backdrop to the flowers and develops bronze tones in winter. This evergreen typically grows to about 1.2 m tall and the same wide and prefers a well-drained position in partial shade. When grown in full sun it tends to be more compact. It is tolerant of frost and cool climates but do require good soil moisture levels during dry periods. When fertilising, avoid using lime as this will stunt or even kill plants. Azalea Amoena is a great choice for adding to a mixed or border planting, planting around outdoor living areas such as pool and barbecue areas, including in cottage gardens, or using anywhere a stunning plant is required. Mass planting provides for an amazing display with this variety.
