Spotted Laurel
Aucuba japonica Golden King, commonly known as the Aucuba Spotted Laurel, is a shade-loving shrub, featuring large, dark green leaves that are splashed with golden yellow. The foliage is complemented with purple flowers in spring which are borne as loose clusters and result in berries that start out bright green but mature to bright red in winter. It typically grows to 2 m tall and the same wide with a dense, rounded form. Aucuba Golden King is commonly used to brighten a dull area, trimmed into a hedge, planted around outdoor living areas, or grown for shelter and privacy. This is a great plant for providing vibrancy to a shady corner.
