Ascarina lucida is a lush, evergreen shrub or small tree native to New Zealand, typically growing 3-6 m tall. It features glossy, bright green leaves with finely toothed edges, giving it a tropical appearance. Found naturally in damp forest environments, it thrives in sheltered, shady sites with good moisture. Ascarina lucida is ideal for native revegetation, underplanting, or adding texture to woodland gardens. Its subtle green flowers appear in spring, followed by small, fleshy fruit enjoyed by native birds.
