Acmena ‘Allyn Magic’ is a dwarf variety of Lilly Pilly that is grown for its colourful foliage, small stature, compact form, and resistance to psyllids. New growth is orange-red and ages to become a fresh green colour. Cream-coloured flowers are produced during summer and result in edible, pink berries. This evergreen typically grows to 60 cm tall and 1 m wide, performing best when grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of light frost and periods of dry once established. ‘Allyn Magic’ is commonly clipped into a low hedge, added to mixed and border plantings, maintained in a container, included in pool and modern garden designs, or added to courtyard plantings. It is a very rewarding plant.
