How to grow Acacia boormanii in NZ

Grow Acacia boormanii in full sun with well drained soil. It performs well in sandy, loamy, and rocky soils and tolerates dry conditions once established. Water regularly during the first growing season and apply mulch to help conserve moisture.

Acacia boormanii care tips

Feed lightly with a low phosphorus, slow release fertiliser in spring if required. Prune after flowering to maintain a compact shape and encourage bushy growth. Avoid waterlogged sites as these can reduce plant vigour.

Acacia boormanii size, spacing, and growth rate

Acacia boormanii typically grows 3 to 5 metres tall and 2 to 4 metres wide. Space plants 3 to 4 metres apart when used as specimens or screening plants. Growth is fast under favourable conditions.

Landscaping uses for Acacia boormanii

Acacia boormanii is ideal as a specimen plant, informal screen, shelter planting, or feature in native inspired, coastal, and low maintenance gardens. The colourful flowers attract bees and other beneficial insects while the attractive foliage provides year round appeal.
