“Halo” is a variety of Abutilon that features showy, bright yellow, lantern-shaped flowers with red veins. The flowers are produced almost year-round and complemented with lush, dark green foliage. It will generally remain evergreen, but can be deciduous in cooler regions. This shrub grows compactly to about 1.2 m tall and 1 m wide, and can be trimmed as necessary. It performs best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site, and is tolerant of moderate frost, and short periods of dry. “Halo” is commonly included in mixed plantings, maintained in a container, used as a backdrop for smaller plants, planted around outdoor living areas, included in cottage gardens, maintained in a container, or planted to provide a sense of brightness and warmth to the garden.
