Chinese Lantern Alba

The Chinese Lantern Alba, commonly known as Chinese Lantern, is an evergreen shrub renowned for its pure white flowers. The showy blooms with a chiffon texture are produced in abundance from spring through autumn and are complemented with lush, dark green leaves. The colour contrast is very aesthetic. It will grow to 3 m tall and the same wide but is often contained with trimming which encourages fresh, new growth and better flowering. Best results with this plant are achieved when it is grown in full sun on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of moderate frost and short periods of dry. The Chinese Lantern Alba is commonly included in a mixed planting, added to cottage or “white” gardens, or used as a backdrop for smaller plants where it can also serve as a screen.
