Fragrant Abelia

The Fragrant Abelia, Abelia mosanensis, is a deciduous shrub that is favoured for its fragrant flowers. It features green foliage that turns orange-red in autumn before falling. The foliage is complemented with white, bell-shaped flowers in summer. It grows with an upright habit to about 2 m tall and the same wide, though it can be trimmed as necessary. This shrub performs best when positioned in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site. It is tolerant of frost, dry periods, and some wind. The Fragrant Abelia is commonly added to a mixed planting, included in cottage gardens, or used as a backdrop for smaller plants.
