Hibiscus schizopetalus is commonly grown as a showy specimen, planted for screening, included in a mixed planting, added to a tropical garden, or planted around outdoor living areas.

Hibiscus schizopetalus, commonly known as the Spider or Fringed Hibiscus, is grown for its showy and unusual flowers which are an elegant shade of red. They are borne year-round but predominantly through summer and autumn off upright, slender stems that also host dark green leaves. It typically grows to 2 m tall and 1.5 m wide but can be trimmed as necessary. It performs best when planted in full sun or partial shade on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site.
