“Dublin Bay” is a popular and award winning rose which can be grown as a shrub or as a climber. It features masses of double, dark red flowers which have a velvety texture and are borne continuously from spring until late autumn. The flowers are complemented with lush and glossy, dark green leaves. This deciduous plant typically grows to 1.5 m tall and the same wide, though will grow much taller and wider if it supported on a trellis. It is generally pruned back each winter by about two-thirds but this may be less if it is grown as a climber. This variety grows best when planted in full sun on a well-drained, semi-sheltered site. It is tolerant of cool climates, frost, and short periods of dry. “Dublin Bay” is commonly trained along a fence or other support structure, added to a mixed planting, included in a cottage garden, or used where a colourful and long flowering plant is required.
