Rose 'Truly Special'

How to grow Rose 'Truly Special' in NZ

Grow Rose 'Truly Special' in full sun in fertile, well drained soil. Select a site with at least six hours of direct sunlight each day and enough airflow to support healthy foliage. Prepare the planting area by mixing in compost, then position the rose at the same depth as it was growing in the pot. Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil evenly moist while it establishes. Apply mulch around the root zone to retain moisture and reduce weeds, keeping it clear of the stems. A warm sunny site with good soil preparation will encourage vigorous growth and generous flowering.

Rose 'Truly Special' care tips

Rose 'Truly Special' benefits from regular watering, feeding, and pruning to maintain healthy growth and repeat flowering. Water deeply during dry periods, especially in the first growing season, and avoid wetting leaves late in the day. Feed in spring with a quality rose fertiliser and apply another light feed after the first main flush of flowers. Remove spent blooms to encourage further flowering and keep the plant tidy. Prune in winter to remove dead, weak, or crossing stems and open the centre of the bush. Renew mulch annually to conserve moisture and support rich healthy soil.

Rose 'Truly Special' size, spacing, and growth rate

Rose 'Truly Special' typically grows about 1 m to 1.2 m tall and wide, forming a rounded bushy shrub with flowers held above the foliage. Space plants around 1 m to 1.2 m apart to provide enough room for natural development and good airflow. Growth is moderate in a sunny well prepared position, with plants becoming fuller and more floriferous as they establish. Regular feeding and light pruning encourage strong fresh flowering wood. Rose 'Truly Special' is an excellent size for mixed borders, rose gardens, and feature planting where a classic flowering shrub is wanted.

Landscaping uses for Rose 'Truly Special'

Rose 'Truly Special' is ideal for rose gardens, sunny feature beds, mixed shrub borders, and containers around patios. Its elegant flowers make a beautiful focal point and work well with white, blue, purple, and silver foliage planting companions. Plant it in groups for a stronger display or use a single bush near paths and seating areas where the blooms can be enjoyed close up. The tidy habit also suits smaller gardens and formal planting schemes. Rose 'Truly Special' brings lasting colour, garden structure, and a refined rose display to outdoor spaces.
