Rose 'Satchimo'

How to grow Rose 'Satchimo' in NZ

Grow Rose 'Satchimo' in full sun with fertile, free draining soil and good airflow. Choose a sheltered position that receives at least six hours of sunshine each day to support healthy growth and abundant blooms. Prepare the planting area with compost, plant the root ball level with the surrounding soil, and water deeply after planting. Keep the soil evenly moist while the plant establishes, especially during warm weather. Apply organic mulch around the base, keeping it clear of the stems, to retain moisture, reduce weeds, and support a healthy root system.

Rose 'Satchimo' care tips

Rose 'Satchimo' thrives with regular feeding, deep watering, deadheading, and winter pruning. Apply a specialised rose fertiliser in spring and summer according to label directions to support vigorous growth and continued flowering. Water at soil level during dry periods, allowing moisture to soak deeply around the roots. Remove spent flower clusters regularly to encourage fresh blooms through autumn. In winter, prune out weak, damaged, and crossing stems, then shorten the remaining growth to maintain a tidy, rounded framework. Good airflow and regular monitoring help keep the foliage healthy and attractive.

Rose 'Satchimo' size, spacing, and growth rate

Rose 'Satchimo' typically grows to around 80 cm tall and 70 cm wide, forming a compact, bushy shrub that is easy to place in smaller gardens. Allow about 60 cm to 80 cm between plants for a full display while maintaining good airflow and access for care. Growth is moderate to vigorous in fertile soil with regular watering and feeding, especially through spring and summer. Winter pruning promotes dense new growth and flowering stems. Its compact habit makes Rose 'Satchimo' a practical choice for borders, rose beds, and decorative containers.
