Rose 'Heaven Scent' Standard

How to grow Rose 'Heaven Scent' Standard in NZ

Grow Rose 'Heaven Scent' Standard in full sun in fertile, well drained soil. Choose a site that receives at least six hours of direct sunlight daily and has shelter from strong winds that could damage the stem or flowering head. Improve the planting area with compost, plant at the same depth as it was growing in the pot, and water thoroughly. Install a sturdy stake at planting time and secure the trunk with soft ties. Keep the soil evenly moist while the plant establishes and mulch around the base. Good sunlight and healthy soil will encourage strong growth and fragrant flowers.

Rose 'Heaven Scent' Standard care tips

Rose 'Heaven Scent' Standard benefits from regular watering, feeding, pruning, and secure staking. Water deeply during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season, and feed in spring with a quality rose fertiliser. A second light feed after the first main flowering flush will support continued blooming. Remove spent flowers promptly and prune the flowering head in winter to remove dead, weak, or crossing stems. Check the stake and ties regularly so they continue to support the trunk without restricting growth. Refresh mulch annually to retain moisture and maintain healthy soil around the root zone.

Rose 'Heaven Scent' Standard size, spacing, and growth rate

Rose 'Heaven Scent' Standard is usually supplied with a clear stem of about 80 cm to 90 cm, topped by a rounded flowering head that develops to around 80 cm to 1 m wide. Allow about 1 m to 1.2 m between plants for good airflow and room to appreciate the shape. Growth is moderate in a sunny well prepared site, with the crown becoming fuller as the roots establish. The lifted flowering head provides useful vertical interest in garden beds and containers. Regular crown pruning helps Rose 'Heaven Scent' Standard retain a balanced form and produce fresh flowering wood.

Landscaping uses for Rose 'Heaven Scent' Standard

Rose 'Heaven Scent' Standard is ideal for formal gardens, entranceways, feature beds, patio pots, and planting beside paths where the fragrance can be enjoyed. The clear stem lifts the flowering crown above lower planting, creating a graceful focal point with strong visual structure. Use a pair to frame a doorway or path, or arrange several at even intervals for a classic formal effect. Underplant with low flowering plants or neat evergreen foliage to highlight the stem and crown. Rose 'Heaven Scent' Standard adds height, perfume, elegance, and seasonal colour to outdoor spaces.
