Rose 'Flower Carpet Sunset'

How to grow Rose 'Flower Carpet Sunset' in NZ

Grow Rose 'Flower Carpet Sunset' in full sun in fertile, well drained soil. Select a position that receives at least six hours of direct sunlight daily so the plant develops dense growth and plenty of flowers. Add compost to the planting area, position the rose at the same depth as it was growing in its pot, and water thoroughly. Keep the soil evenly moist while the roots establish. Spread mulch around the root zone to conserve moisture and reduce weeds, keeping it clear of the stems. A sunny warm location with healthy soil will encourage an abundant display of flowers.

Rose 'Flower Carpet Sunset' care tips

Rose 'Flower Carpet Sunset' is simple to care for and benefits from basic seasonal attention. Water deeply during dry periods, especially while young plants are establishing. Feed in spring with a quality rose fertiliser, then apply a second light feed after the first major flowering flush if needed. Remove spent blooms to keep the plant neat if desired, although this rose continues to flower well with little deadheading. Prune lightly in late winter to remove older or damaged stems and refresh the overall shape. Renew the mulch each year to support healthy roots, retain moisture, and promote strong fresh growth.

Rose 'Flower Carpet Sunset' size, spacing, and growth rate

Rose 'Flower Carpet Sunset' generally grows around 60 cm to 80 cm tall and spreads about 1 m to 1.2 m wide, making a broad low mound of flowering foliage. Space plants approximately 80 cm to 1 m apart to form an even continuous cover over garden beds, banks, and borders. Growth is moderately fast in a sunny position with well prepared soil and regular moisture while young. The plant becomes fuller as it establishes, building a dense spreading habit. Light annual pruning will help Rose 'Flower Carpet Sunset' remain tidy, vigorous, and ready to produce fresh flowering stems each season.
