Rose 'Flower Carpet Scarlet'

How to grow Rose 'Flower Carpet Scarlet' in NZ

Grow Rose 'Flower Carpet Scarlet' in full sun in fertile, well drained soil. Choose a site with at least six hours of direct sunlight each day to encourage a dense habit and plentiful flowering. Mix compost into the planting area before planting, set the rose at the same depth as it was growing in the pot, and water thoroughly. Keep the soil evenly moist while the roots establish. Apply mulch around the plant to hold moisture and reduce weeds, ensuring it does not touch the stems. A warm sunny position with healthy soil will support strong growth and a rich flowering display.

Rose 'Flower Carpet Scarlet' care tips

Rose 'Flower Carpet Scarlet' needs only simple regular care to deliver a long season of colour. Water deeply during dry weather, especially while the plant is young and establishing. Feed in spring with a quality rose fertiliser, then consider a second light feed after the first major flush of flowers. Remove spent blooms if preferred to keep the plant tidy, although flowering remains good with minimal deadheading. Prune lightly in late winter to remove old or damaged stems and renew the shape. Refresh mulch each year to conserve moisture, support soil health, and encourage vigorous fresh growth.

Rose 'Flower Carpet Scarlet' size, spacing, and growth rate

Rose 'Flower Carpet Scarlet' generally grows around 60 cm to 80 cm tall and spreads about 1 m to 1.2 m wide, forming a broad low mound of flowering foliage. Space plants approximately 80 cm to 1 m apart to create a continuous cover across sunny beds, borders, and banks. Growth is moderately fast in a sunny position with well prepared soil and regular moisture during establishment. Plants soon become fuller, developing a dense spreading habit. Light annual pruning helps Rose 'Flower Carpet Scarlet' stay neat, healthy, and vigorous while encouraging fresh flowering growth each season.
