Rose 'Casino'

How to grow Rose 'Casino' in NZ

Grow Rose 'Casino' in full sun in fertile, well drained soil. Choose a position that receives at least six hours of direct sunlight each day and provide a strong support such as a trellis, fence, arch, or pergola for the climbing stems. Prepare the soil with compost before planting and water thoroughly to settle the roots. Keep the soil evenly moist during the first growing season while the rose establishes. Apply mulch around the base to retain moisture and reduce weeds, keeping it clear of the stems. A sunny open site will encourage vigorous growth and generous flowering.

Rose 'Casino' care tips

Rose 'Casino' benefits from regular watering, feeding, tying in, and pruning to maintain strong growth and repeat flowering. Water deeply during dry periods, especially while young, and avoid wetting foliage late in the day. Feed in spring and again after the first main flowering flush with a quality rose fertiliser. Tie new long stems securely to their support in a spreading pattern to encourage more flowering shoots. Remove spent blooms regularly and prune in winter to remove weak or damaged growth. Mulch annually to support soil health and retain moisture.

Rose 'Casino' size, spacing, and growth rate

Rose 'Casino' can grow about 2.5 m to 3.5 m tall and around 2 m wide when trained on a suitable support. Space plants approximately 2 m to 3 m apart where more than one climber is being used, allowing room for stems to spread and good airflow to circulate. Growth is vigorous in a sunny well prepared position, with long new canes produced each season. Regular tying and winter pruning help direct the growth. Rose 'Casino' is an excellent choice for covering arches, fences, pergolas, and sunny walls.

Landscaping uses for Rose 'Casino'

Rose 'Casino' is ideal for arches, fences, pergolas, walls, and garden entrances where its golden flowers can create a dramatic vertical display. Train it over an arch to frame a path or use it along a sunny fence to soften boundaries with foliage and blooms. The warm yellow flowers combine beautifully with blue, purple, white, and silver planting companions. It also makes a striking focal point near patios and outdoor seating areas. Rose 'Casino' brings height, colour, and classic romantic style to gardens of every size.
