Rose 'Anniversary' Standard

How to grow Rose 'Anniversary' Standard in NZ

Grow Rose 'Anniversary' Standard in full sun with fertile, free draining soil and good airflow. Select a sheltered position that receives at least six hours of sunlight daily and protect the stem from strong winds with a suitable stake. Prepare the soil with compost, plant with the root ball level with the surrounding soil, and water deeply after planting. Keep the soil evenly moist while the plant establishes. Apply organic mulch around the base, keeping it clear of the trunk, to conserve moisture and suppress weeds.

Rose 'Anniversary' Standard care tips

Rose 'Anniversary' Standard benefits from regular feeding, watering, deadheading, and pruning to maintain a healthy rounded head. Apply a specialised rose fertiliser in spring and summer according to label directions. Water deeply at soil level during dry periods and remove spent blooms regularly to encourage further flowering. In winter, prune the flowering head by removing weak, damaged, and crossing stems before shortening the remaining growth. Check the stake and ties regularly so the clear stem remains straight, secure, and protected as the rose develops.

Rose 'Anniversary' Standard size, spacing, and growth rate

Rose 'Anniversary' Standard typically reaches about 1.2 m to 1.5 m tall, with a rounded flowering head around 60 cm to 90 cm wide. Allow about 80 cm to 1 m between plants so each canopy has room to develop naturally and maintain good airflow. Growth is moderate, with the strongest growth occurring through spring and summer in fertile soil with regular watering and feeding. Annual pruning helps maintain a balanced head and encourages fresh flowering growth. Its upright form provides height without taking up excessive garden space.
