How to grow the Iceberg Climbing Rose in NZ

Plant in full sun with fertile, free-draining soil enriched with compost. Train canes onto a support such as a trellis, arch, or fence for best coverage. Water deeply during dry spells and mulch around the base to retain soil moisture. Feed in spring and midsummer with a balanced rose fertiliser to promote strong growth and repeat blooms. Prune in winter to remove old wood and maintain structure.

Iceberg Climbing Rose care tips

Deadhead spent blooms to extend the flowering season. Watch for pests such as aphids and treat promptly if needed. Tie in new growth regularly to guide the plant’s shape and coverage. Keep foliage dry when watering to reduce fungal risk.

Iceberg Climbing Rose size, spacing, and growth rate

This climbing variety can reach 3–5 m tall and 2–3 m wide when mature. Space plants 2–3 m apart if planting along a fence or wall to allow for full growth.
