Phormium ‘Jester’ is a showy variety of Flax that produces sword-like leaves that are striped with a wide, pink central band and a dark purple border. Through summer it produces yellow or orange flowers on tall stems that are great for attracting birds. This variety typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide with a tidy and compact habit. It grows best and produces the most intense leaf colourings when planted in full sun on a well-drained site. It will tolerate frost, coastal conditions, wind, poor soils, moderate shade, and cool climates.
