Tulip 'Rococo'

How to grow Tulip 'Rococo' in NZ

Grow Tulip 'Rococo' in full sun in a suitable sheltered position, using fertile soil with good drainage. Plant at the appropriate depth for the bulb or tuber and water as growth begins. Use containers with drainage holes if garden soil stays wet. Maintain moisture during active growth without saturating the root zone. Leave space for flower stems and foliage, and provide shelter from strong winds where taller blooms need protection.

Tulip 'Rococo' care tips

Care for Tulip 'Rococo' by matching moisture and feeding to its growing season. Water while leaves and flowers are actively growing and feed with a suitable flowering plant fertiliser. Remove spent flowers but leave healthy foliage until it naturally yellows, allowing the bulb or tuber to rebuild reserves. Reduce watering during dormancy and prevent winter waterlogging. Check stored bulbs for damage if lifting is needed, and protect tender varieties from frost.

Tulip 'Rococo' size, spacing, and growth rate

Tulip 'Rococo' typically reaches about 40 cm tall and 25 cm wide under suitable conditions. For individual plants, allow about 25 cm between centres to give the foliage space without excessive crowding. It has a moderate growth rate under suitable conditions. Final size varies with climate, soil, container size, and maintenance. Allow for the expected spread when positioning plants beside paths, walls, or neighbouring specimens. Check the developing plant regularly and adjust nearby planting as its natural form becomes clearer.

Landscaping uses for Tulip 'Rococo'

Use Tulip 'Rococo' for seasonal borders, mixed flower planting, and decorative containers.
