Strelitzia reginae, commonly known as the Crane Flower or Bird Of Paradise, is a very popular plant due to both its beautiful foliage and flowers. It produces spectacular orange flowers with a blue highlight through spring and summer. The foliage comprises large and glossy, dark green leaves which are aesthetic year-round. This herbaceous perennial typically grows to 1.5 m tall and 2 m wide, performing best when planted on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun. This Bird Of Paradise is tolerant of dry periods, coastal environments, and moderate frost once established.
