It spreads easily, making it ideal for edging, borders, and ground cover.

Lambs Ear plant care tips

Lambs Ear prefers full sun and well-drained soil to maintain its soft, silvery foliage. Water during dry spells, especially in its first year, but avoid overwatering as soggy soil can cause rot. Remove spent flower stalks and old leaves to keep the plant tidy and healthy. It tolerates poor soil and is drought-hardy once established. Divide clumps every few years to control the spread and refresh growth. This easy-care plant is ideal for low-maintenance gardens.

Is the Lambs-Ear plant poisonous to dogs?

Lambs Ear (Stachys byzantina) is not considered poisonous to dogs and is generally safe to grow in pet-friendly gardens. While it's non-toxic, eating large amounts may cause mild stomach upset, so it's best to discourage excessive chewing.

What are the uses for the Lambs-ear plant?

Lambs Ear (Stachys byzantina) is commonly used as a soft, silvery ground cover or border plant in garden beds. Its velvety foliage adds texture and contrast to planting schemes, especially in dry, sunny spots. It's ideal for edging paths and creating low-maintenance, drought-tolerant displays. In children's gardens, the soft leaves are often used for sensory play. Historically, the leaves were also used as natural bandages due to their absorbent and antibacterial properties, though this is less common today.
