Scabiosa Vivid Violet is a variety of the commonly known, Pin Cushion Flower, and is an herbaceous perennial grown for its pretty flowers. It produces stunning, soft-violet-coloured flowers with the tiny florets resembling a pin cushion through summer. The flowers are borne above the lush green foliage and together afford a beautiful plant. It typically grows to 50 cm tall and 40 cm wide, and performs best when planted on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun. It is hardy to dry periods and coastal environments but should be protected from frost, especially when young. Scabiosa Vivid Violet is a great choice for cottage gardens, container growing, mixed plantings, border planting, or for anywhere a delightful splash of colour is wanted. A mass planting looks great and it makes for an excellent cut flower.
