Salvia uliginosa, commonly known as the Bog Sage plant, is grown for its rich display of flowers from summer through autumn. It produces long and slender flower spikes with masses of small, light blue flowers. The flowers sit neatly above the dark green foliage and are great for attracting butterflies and birds. It typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide, performing best when planted on a well-drained and sheltered site in full sun. It is frost hardy once established and does require good levels of moisture during dry periods. Salvia uliginosa is ideal for herb gardens, mixed plantings, cottage gardens, borders, or container growing. A mass planting really suits this plant and gives a very rewarding display.
