Salvia nemorosa Ost Friesland is a variety of Wood Sage or East Friesland Sage grown for its rich display of flowers from summer through autumn. It produces solid flower spikes with small, violet-purple flowers which sit neatly above the dark green foliage. The flowers are great for attracting butterflies and birds. All parts of the plant are aromatic and produce a lovely fragrance when crushed. It typically grows to 40 cm tall and 50 cm wide, performing best on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun. It is frost hardy once established and does require good levels of moisture during dry periods.
