Each flower lasts about a day but they continue to open over several weeks. The flowers are complemented by tall, strap-like, dark green foliage which has a graceful arch. It typically grows to 1 m tall and the same wide, performing best when grown in a full sun or partial shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of heavier soils, dry periods, cool climates, and frost and may die back during winter but will regrow when conditions warm.
