Iresine 'Ruby Glow'

How to grow Iresine 'Ruby Glow' in NZ

Grow Iresine 'Ruby Glow' in full sun or partial shade, using fertile soil that drains freely. Plant at the same depth as the nursery container, firm the soil gently, and water thoroughly. Add mulch around the roots while keeping it away from the stems. Water consistently during the first growing season and choose a position with room for the mature plant. Check moisture regularly as the new roots settle into their surroundings.

Iresine 'Ruby Glow' care tips

Care for Iresine 'Ruby Glow' by matching moisture and feeding to its growing season. Water deeply during dry weather while the roots are establishing. Apply a suitable fertiliser in spring and refresh the mulch to retain moisture. Remove damaged growth and trim lightly when necessary to maintain a balanced shape. Check new shoots for pests and keep competing weeds away from the root zone. Regular checks help you respond promptly to changing conditions.

Iresine 'Ruby Glow' size, spacing, and growth rate

Iresine 'Ruby Glow' typically reaches about 50 cm tall and 60 cm wide under suitable conditions. For individual plants, allow about 60 cm between centres to give the foliage space without excessive crowding. It has a moderate growth rate under suitable conditions. Final size varies with climate, soil, container size, and maintenance. Allow for the expected spread when positioning plants beside paths, walls, or neighbouring specimens. Check the developing plant regularly and adjust nearby planting as its natural form becomes clearer.
