Hosta 'June'

How to grow Hosta 'June' in NZ

Hosta 'June' thrives in partial to full shade with moist, well drained soil rich in organic matter. In NZ, it performs best in sheltered areas protected from strong sun and drying winds. Prepare the soil with compost before planting to improve structure and moisture retention. Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during summer. Applying mulch helps regulate soil temperature and reduces moisture loss, creating ideal growing conditions.

Remove any damaged leaves to maintain a tidy appearance. Keep an eye out for slugs and snails, which are attracted to the foliage. Dividing plants every few years helps maintain vigour and allows you to expand your planting.
