Hosta 'Hadspen Blue'

How to grow Hosta 'Hadspen Blue' in NZ

Hosta 'Hadspen Blue' grows best in partial shade or full shade with fertile, well drained soil that remains evenly moist. Improve the soil with compost before planting to encourage healthy root development. Water regularly during establishment and through extended dry periods. Apply mulch each spring to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and keep the roots cool for strong healthy growth throughout the season.

Hosta 'Hadspen Blue' care tips

Hosta 'Hadspen Blue' is easy to maintain once established. Feed with a quality slow release fertiliser in spring to encourage lush foliage. Remove damaged or ageing leaves as needed and tidy the plant after it dies back in autumn. Keep the soil from drying out completely during summer and monitor for slugs and snails when fresh growth appears in spring.

Hosta 'Hadspen Blue' size, spacing, and growth rate

Hosta 'Hadspen Blue' forms a medium sized clump that typically reaches 40 to 50 centimetres tall with a spread of 70 to 90 centimetres. It grows steadily each year and develops into a dense mound of attractive foliage over time. Space plants about 70 to 90 centimetres apart to allow room for mature growth and good air circulation.
