Hosta 'Golden Tiara'

How to grow the Hosta 'Golden Tiara' plant in NZ

Growing Hosta 'Golden Tiara' in New Zealand is simple and rewarding. It thrives in partial to full shade and prefers moist, well drained soil enriched with organic matter. Adding compost at planting will promote strong root systems and lush growth. Regular watering during dry periods helps maintain healthy foliage. This variety is ideal for cooler, shaded garden areas where it brings reliable colour and structure throughout the growing season.

Hosta 'Golden Tiara' care tips

Caring for Hosta 'Golden Tiara' is easy and keeps it looking fresh. Remove old or damaged leaves in late winter to allow space for new spring growth. Apply a slow release fertiliser in spring to support vigorous foliage and flower production. Keep the soil consistently moist, as dry conditions may cause leaf edges to brown. Mulching helps retain soil moisture and reduces weeds, ensuring the plant thrives with minimal effort.

Hosta 'Golden Tiara' size, spacing, and growth rate

Hosta 'Golden Tiara' forms compact clumps about 30 to 40 cm tall and 40 to 50 cm wide. For mass planting or edging, space plants about 40 cm apart to achieve an even display. The growth rate is moderate, with plants establishing well in their first season and improving each year. Its neat size makes it perfect for edging pathways, filling shaded gaps, and container planting.

Landscaping uses for Hosta 'Golden Tiara'

Hosta 'Golden Tiara' is highly valued in landscaping for its colourful foliage and compact form. It is ideal for edging shaded paths, planting beneath trees, or creating vibrant borders.
