Heuchera 'Silver Scrolls'

How to grow Heuchera 'Silver Scrolls' in NZ

Heuchera 'Silver Scrolls' grows best in a position with morning sun or partial shade and moist, free draining soil enriched with organic matter. Incorporate compost before planting to improve soil structure and fertility. Water regularly while the plant is establishing and maintain consistent moisture during dry periods. Avoid planting in sites that remain excessively wet, as poor drainage can affect root health. A sheltered position helps protect the foliage and encourages strong growth throughout the year.

Heuchera 'Silver Scrolls' care tips

Heuchera 'Silver Scrolls' is easy to maintain and requires only basic care. Remove old or damaged leaves as required to keep the plant looking fresh and attractive. Apply a balanced fertiliser during spring to support healthy foliage growth and flowering. Water during prolonged dry periods, particularly for plants growing in containers. Mulching around the base helps conserve moisture and reduce weed growth. Dividing mature clumps every few years will help maintain vigour and ensure continued strong performance.

Heuchera 'Silver Scrolls' size, spacing, and growth rate

Heuchera 'Silver Scrolls' typically grows to around 0.25 to 0.4 m tall and spreads approximately 0.35 to 0.5 m wide. It has a moderate growth rate and gradually develops into a dense clump of attractive foliage. Space plants around 0.35 to 0.45 m apart when creating border displays or mass plantings. Adequate spacing allows good airflow and enables each plant to develop its full shape, creating a healthier and more visually impressive planting scheme.

Landscaping uses for Heuchera 'Silver Scrolls'

Heuchera 'Silver Scrolls' is ideal for woodland gardens, shaded borders, container displays, and mixed perennial plantings. The silver foliage creates a striking contrast against darker plants and helps brighten partially shaded areas. This variety works particularly well when planted in groups where the unique leaf colouring can be fully appreciated. It is also suitable for edging pathways, softening garden borders, and adding year round texture and colour beneath trees and larger shrubs. Leave enough open space around the display for its natural character to remain visible.
