Haemanthus albiflos, commonly known as the Paint Brush Plant, is an herbaceous perennial grown for its foliage and interesting flowers. The broad and thick leaves are glossy green and complemented with flowers that are a mass of white and yellow stamens. The flowers are mainly produced through spring and summer but may occur sporadically during the year. The show is quite remarkable and results in bright orange berries. It typically grows to 25 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when planted in partial shade on a well-drained site that is protected from frost. Haemanthus albiflos is commonly grown as an indoor plant, included in rock gardens, used in borders, planted around outdoor living areas, or used in tropical gardens.
