Geranium 'Summer Skies'

How to grow Geranium 'Summer Skies' in NZ

Grow Geranium 'Summer Skies' in full sun or light shade, using fertile soil with good drainage. Prepare the soil before planting and set the crown at its original depth. Water thoroughly and maintain even moisture while roots establish. A container with drainage holes also works well when filled with quality potting mix. Give plants space for airflow and shelter young growth from harsh weather. Check moisture regularly as the new roots settle into their surroundings.

Geranium 'Summer Skies' care tips

Care for Geranium 'Summer Skies' by matching moisture and feeding to its growing season. Water when the soil begins to dry, especially during summer and when grown in pots. Feed during active growth with a suitable flowering plant fertiliser. Remove spent flowers and damaged foliage to keep the display tidy. Cut back tired growth when appropriate and monitor for aphids or other pests. Avoid leaving the roots in saturated soil.

Geranium 'Summer Skies' size, spacing, and growth rate

Geranium 'Summer Skies' typically reaches about 50 cm tall and 70 cm wide under suitable conditions. For individual plants, allow about 70 cm between centres to give the foliage space without excessive crowding. It has a moderate growth rate under suitable conditions. Final size varies with climate, soil, container size, and maintenance. Allow for the expected spread when positioning plants beside paths, walls, or neighbouring specimens. Check the developing plant regularly and adjust nearby planting as its natural form becomes clearer.

Use Geranium 'Summer Skies' for flower borders, mixed containers, and colourful patio displays.
