Canna Tropicanna Black features lush foliage coupled with impressive flowers. It carries large and glossy, near black-coloured leaves which are held upright and have a gentle arch. Stems rise above the foliage from late spring until early autumn baring large and showy, bright red flowers. The combination of flowers and foliage is very aesthetic. This herbaceous perennial typically grows to 1.2 m tall and 70 cm wide, and in cold environments may die back during winter to regrow again when temperatures warm in spring. Canna Lilies grow best when planted on a well-drained, sheltered site in full sun or partial shade, though it is tolerant of moderate frost and heavy soils. Canna Tropicanna Black is commonly included in tropical gardens, planted alongside water features such as ponds and stream, included in a mixed planting, or planted around outdoor living areas.
