Astilbe Sprite Details

Astilbe Sprite is an herbaceous perennial grown for its impressive foliage and flowers. An interesting spray of pale pink flowers is produced off arching stems during summer. These rise above the foliage and complement the dark green leaves nicely. The leaves have an almost fern like appearance which provides yet more interest to this plant. It grows as a clump to about 30 cm tall and the same wide, performing best when positioned in partial shade or full shade on a well-drained site. It is tolerant of light frost only. Astilbe Sprite is a favourite for shaded areas of the gardens, maintaining in a container, planting alongside walkways, including in mixed plantings, adding to cottage gardens, or mass planting for a great display. It also looks very effective when planted alongside a pond or stream.
