Astilbe Fanal is an herbaceous perennial grown for its impressive foliage and flowers. An interesting spray of fluffy, red flowers are produced during summer off upright stems that rise above the foliage. These blend nicely with the dark green foliage with new foliage emerging bronze and tending to become dark green with a red tint as the summer progresses. It grows as a clump to about 75 cm tall and 50 cm wide. Astilbe Fanal is a favourite for shaded areas of the gardens, maintaining in a container, planting alongside walkways, including in mixed plantings, adding to cottage gardens, or mass planting for a great display.
