Astilbe 'Erica'

How to grow Astilbe 'Erica' in NZ

Astilbe 'Erica' grows best in partial shade with fertile, moisture retentive, well drained soil. Improve the planting area with compost before planting and keep the soil consistently moist, particularly during summer. Apply mulch to conserve moisture and feed each spring with a balanced fertiliser to encourage healthy growth and abundant flowering.

Astilbe 'Erica' care tips

Remove spent flower stems once flowering has finished and trim away old foliage in late winter before new growth emerges. Water during dry periods as astilbes dislike drying out. Divide mature clumps every few years to maintain vigour and flowering performance.

Astilbe 'Erica' size, spacing, and growth rate

Astilbe 'Erica' typically grows 50 to 70 centimetres tall and 40 to 50 centimetres wide. Space plants 40 to 50 centimetres apart to allow healthy clump development and good air circulation. Growth is moderate, with plants forming attractive flowering clumps over time.
