Arctotis 'Pumpkin Pie'

How to grow Arctotis 'Pumpkin Pie' in NZ

Arctotis 'Pumpkin Pie' grows best in full sun and well drained soil, performing exceptionally in warm and dry environments. Choose a bright, open position to encourage strong flowering and compact growth. Avoid heavy or waterlogged soils, as Arctotis prefers lean and free draining ground. Water during establishment, then reduce once the plant matures. It thrives in coastal, inland, and exposed New Zealand gardens.

Arctotis 'Pumpkin Pie' care tips

Arctotis 'Pumpkin Pie' is naturally low maintenance and easy to grow. Remove spent blooms regularly to promote continual flowering. Trim lightly if plants become leggy or to maintain shape. Avoid heavy fertiliser and overwatering, as these reduce flowering performance. Its natural pest and disease resistance makes it ideal for low care gardens.

Arctotis 'Pumpkin Pie' size, spacing, and growth rate

Arctotis 'Pumpkin Pie' typically grows twenty to thirty centimetres tall and spreads up to fifty centimetres wide. Its spreading, mat forming habit makes it suitable for ground cover or gap filling. Space plants forty to fifty centimetres apart to allow for natural spread. It grows rapidly in warm weather, forming a dense carpet that helps suppress weeds.

Landscaping uses for Arctotis 'Pumpkin Pie'

Arctotis 'Pumpkin Pie' is ideal for sunny borders, banks, rockeries, and dry landscapes. Its warm pumpkin toned flowers pair beautifully with grasses, succulents, silver foliage plants, and other drought tolerant species. It excels in areas exposed to strong sunlight, including driveways and slopes. This variety is also excellent for mass planting to create a bold, long lasting colour display.
