Arctotis 'Orange'

How to grow Arctotis 'Orange' in NZ

Arctotis 'Orange' grows best in full sun and free draining soil, performing strongly in warm and dry environments. Choose an open, sunny position to maximise flowering and maintain compact growth. Avoid heavy or waterlogged soils, as Arctotis thrives in lean, dry ground. Water during establishment, then reduce watering once mature. It performs reliably in coastal, inland, and exposed New Zealand gardens.

Arctotis 'Orange' care tips

Arctotis 'Orange' requires very little care thanks to its naturally tough nature. Remove spent flowers regularly to encourage prolonged blooming. Trim lightly if plants become leggy or to maintain a tidy habit. Avoid excessive fertiliser and overwatering, as rich soil reduces flowering. It is naturally resistant to pests and diseases, making it ideal for low maintenance landscapes.

Arctotis 'Orange' size, spacing, and growth rate

Arctotis 'Orange' typically grows twenty to thirty centimetres tall and spreads up to fifty centimetres wide. Its spreading habit makes it excellent for ground cover, gap filling, and bank stabilisation. Space plants forty to fifty centimetres apart to allow for natural spreading. It grows quickly in warm conditions, forming a dense carpet that helps suppress weeds.

Landscaping uses for Arctotis 'Orange'

Arctotis 'Orange' is ideal for sunny borders, rockeries, slopes, and coastal landscapes. Its vivid orange blooms pair beautifully with silver foliage plants, grasses, succulents, and other drought tolerant perennials. It excels in hot locations with reflected heat, such as driveways and exposed banks. This variety is also excellent for mass planting to create a bright, long lasting colour display.
