Arctotis 'Golden Sunset'

How to grow Arctotis 'Golden Sunset' in NZ

Arctotis 'Golden Sunset' grows best in full sun and free draining soil, excelling in warm and dry locations. Choose an open, sunny spot to maximise flowering and encourage compact growth. Avoid heavy or waterlogged soils, as Arctotis prefers lean, dry ground. Water plants during establishment, then reduce once mature. It thrives in coastal, inland, and exposed gardens across New Zealand.

Arctotis 'Golden Sunset' care tips

Arctotis 'Golden Sunset' is naturally tough and easy to maintain. Remove spent blooms to encourage extended flowering throughout the season. Trim lightly if plants become leggy or untidy. Avoid excessive fertiliser and overwatering, as rich soil reduces flowering. Its natural pest and disease resistance makes it ideal for low maintenance landscapes.

Arctotis 'Golden Sunset' size, spacing, and growth rate

Arctotis 'Golden Sunset' typically grows twenty to thirty centimetres tall and spreads up to fifty centimetres wide. Its mat forming habit makes it excellent for ground cover or gap filling. Space plants forty to fifty centimetres apart to allow for natural spread. It grows quickly in warm weather and forms a dense, weed suppressing mat.

Landscaping uses for Arctotis 'Golden Sunset'

Arctotis 'Golden Sunset' is ideal for sunny borders, rockeries, banks, and dry landscapes. Its golden yellow blooms pair beautifully with silver foliage plants, grasses, succulents, and drought tolerant perennials. It thrives in hot areas with reflected heat, such as driveways and slopes. This variety performs well in mass plantings for a vibrant and long lasting display.
