Alocasia odora is an herbaceous perennial is grown for its impressively large foliage. The massive, arrow shaped leaves are dark green, lush, and very showy. It typically grows to 2 m tall and the same wide, performing best on a well-drained, frost free, sheltered site in full sun or partial shade. It may die back in winter but will generally regrow again in the spring. This Alocasia is commonly used in mixed plantings, maintained in a container, added to tropical gardens, planted around outdoor living areas such as pools and the like, or mass planted around the base of larger trees and shrubs.
